Your Content itself can decide the fate of your Content Sites.
That’s why many people prefer to slap some Content to their site and leave it to age.
If you can create some amazing content and place it wisely, distribute the segments just where they should be, things will look much better!
That’s tried and tested!
Some of those tricks which got a noob Affiliate Marketer like me, a great headstart, are given below. Critics are welcome to slap some sense in me 🙂
Personalized Ratings and Feature Discussion:
While writing individual product reviews and Comparisons, I used personalized Ratings and discussed individual features.
Here take a look at the format I used for one of my sites back then:
-
Key features of the X Model
-
Who should be using this?
-
Our Ratings (against every feature of X model, like display, sturdiness etc.)
-
Overall (A catchy rating Chart)Different other models from X manufacturers ( 5 models ranked
-
from the top with discussion in two or three sentences just about its key features, pros and cons)Final Words
Here, I came up with this format after researching 10 similar sites and clubbing all their unique segments together. Some of them had one section unique, while some of them had others.
I chose the most effective ones and customized them.
Even though my agency’s writers are knowledgeable enough, the funniest part is that I suggested them to write the rating part without any reference. Rate it on your understanding! That will look much more trusted to the readers.
Go Meaty
Now I’m not really a supporter of stuffing (even though I get tempted sometimes to earn a few more bucks from clients by adding more words to their Orders LMAO). Going Meaty is really effective. Many would disagree.
For this technique to be effective, I researched 10 sites for similar categories and aligned them based on their structural and content-ual similarity.
I calculated the average word count to be, let’s say, 1000 words. I will now write my article with at least 50% more words to make it bigger, wholesome and add all the segments as I did in the previous step.
Custom Widgets
I’m not talking about the one you can get from an Amazon affiliate. The code that you can Copy-paste in your Backend.
It’s about creating a custom widget for a specific page- a static one as you can see here.
These widgets can have a profound impact as the readers will immediately know that this is a custom widget and is suggested by an editor.
Multiple Product doors in a Single/dual product review/comparison
Let me simplify this one. While writing an individual review, we can have the flexibility to promote only one single model, right? For example, if we are writing about Humminbird Helix 7, we can promote only that one, right?
Wrong.
Here I added a segment with title- ’Check out other glamorous models from Humminbird’. As I said in the first point, I focused least on writing descriptions for these.
Instead just one key description, features in bullets and Pros and Cons. Let me give you an example-
If I’m reviewing Humminbird Helix 7 primarily, I can add products like this.
Humminbird Piranhanmax – Best for professional hunters/Best in the market scanner(One or two-line description)Key featuresProsCons
Done!
Custom CTAs/Lead Magnets/Interlinks:
Suppose I’m writing about Humminbird Piranhamax and why is its display one of the best in the market. You, as a reader, will come across the words like Down Imaging, Side Imaging and stuff.
Suddenly you notice a small 3 cm x 3 cm Box with an image and a clear CTA of ‘How Sonar Fishfinders are better‘ or may be ‘Which is better- Down Imaging or Side Imaging‘, what are the chances of you clicking that? Provided that your Content is good enough to raise curiosity all the way till then.
I guess you know the answer, right?
That’s how you can put an interlink or maybe a lead magnet like Ebook? How cool is that?
These were, in short, some of the Content Placement tactics I used personally, and the results were neat!
By neat, I didn’t mean I got a colossal sale-spike or something like that because I’m a noob back then, and till now, I’m not a practical affiliate marketer, but more of a Content writer.
I manage a few sites to test my tricks and apply or suggest the same to my clients!
What’s your take on the above techniques?
